- By Bossip Staff

During a post-Grammy interview with the Associated Press, overnight sensation Justin Bieber performed the ultimate Black-girl no-no when he reached out to pat Esperanza Spalding’s ‘fro. Black women across America went into an uproar…Over hair?

Understandably, women who pay a great deal of money (regardless of whether or not it fits into the budget) to maintain their tresses are inclined to preserve a fresh ‘do for as long as possible. But, it shouldn’t be the end of the world if someone dares to touch it during casual conversation (or yank it a little during you know what). It is not that important; and, certainly not serious enough to throw a tantrum. It’s just hair.

      NICE NEWS !
My friend Vanessa, a 25 yrs lady, has announced her wedding with a m’illionaire young man Ronald who is the CEO of a MNC. It’s amazing, she said she just posted her profile on a m’illionaire d’ating s’ite called ———-RichMatchmaker. ℃○M——– – and received his chat invitations a few days later. Then, everything went so well that I can’t believe it’s true! Every love story will unfold on it’s own..——-
vIt’s not as petty as the author might think. I see many a pretty and interesting a thing and never would I go about touching something that isn’t mine without permission. I am not a petting zoo..yes my natural hair is amazing(lol) but please do not touch me

  • Pam

well excuse me for not wanting to be petted by complete strangers like a common zoo animal. “feel this ,honey! its just like a sheep!” if you don’t know someone keep your hands to yourself, didnt we learn that in kindergarten? just sayin.

  • Shananigans

i never understood why people would think its ok to just touch someone, its not even about the hair just dont touch me unless u know u can

  • ricoblack313

  • foreallydoe

U don’t pat any adult on the head…period. that dude wouldn’t have wanted anyone touching his head when he had that fruity hairstyle.

  • phytness

I agree! And it’s always white people who want to touch my hair. But I have nerve because my boyfriend is white! (I know…SYH) I felt funny the first time he reached for my head. But I’m the first natural black girl he’s been with, no weaves no perms. Hey, what can I say…

  • WithAllHonesty

Its just ignorant/rude period. I would say the same if this were a white woman. You just don’t go around putting your hands in people’s hair. This is mainly a white thing, they don’t know better, you just gotta teach ’em.

  • Allie

I have had some issues with this in the past, but now that my hair is short, people don’t see the hype, they just gawk at it lol, but i do like when guys will run their hands through the back, that i don’t mind 🙂

  • if anything be noble

Pull out their tongues. Turn it from side to side. Check underneath it. Tell em to say Aaah. Put on a miner’s hat with the big light on your forehead. Do eye exams. Pull out a chart and tell them to read the bottom line. –SMH.

  • WithAllHonesty

    I’m crackin’ up LOL.

  • Mrs. Rance

Her hair is beautiful. Got me thinking about doing it. Or at least a smaller version of it. Anywho, all he needed to do was ask first.

  • Moanmyname (Certified now!)

love love love her hair. my hair must be that powerful 2 yrs from now

  • daisy jay

LOL @NOBLE. Don’t forget cavity checks! BEND OVER AND COUGH

As long as your afro is clean and well taken care of, then it’s beautiful. All hair textures are great in their own ways.

Omg a black woman with real hair, call National Geographic and see if we can set up a wildlife reserve for this chick because I think they’re an endangered species.

  • if anything be noble

    Honesty. LOL I’m just sayin.

I don’t want anybody’s dirty crusty, I don’t know where they been at hands touchin me anywhere.. Especially my hair or face.. Men touch their (man parts-thanks for censoring me( when they pee. Some women scratch. SOME folks don’t wash their hands..DO NOT TOUCH ME!!

  • 1991 UK Gem of Africa... (ARSENAL MASH UP BARCELONA)

I love black peoples hair… best decision ever made was to go natural.
Some white people are really stupid when it comes to our hair its like their in awe… but you can’t blame them 😀

  • keebler mf elf

    That chick looks good!!!

  • keebler mf elf

Older white people look down upon black women who go natural, I have witness this!

  • JustAshley

I haven’t had white people look down on me for being natural and I have straight up 4a hair. They do want to touch it though. Asian people have the same reaction but they often tell me my hair is beautiful and to never to change my hair color.

  • rae

I’m sorry but I just completely disagree with this article. It’s not as petty as the author might think. I see many a pretty and interesting a thing and never would I go about touching something that isn’t mine without permission. I am not a petting zoo..yes my natural hair is amazing(lol) but please do not touch me

    • JustAshley

I hear you. No one wants to put out the idea that they can touch a black woman like we’re novelty toys. Yes we’re different. We’re beautiful but no one should have their personal space violated.
At the same time – Beiber is like 16 and I’m sure Usher schooled him after the show.

  • Loveme23

I co-sign with Pam. This is not a petty situation but very disrespectful. Touching my hair is like some strange man grabbing my butt. It will get you killed. A womans hair is her grown of glory. Natural or not keep your hands off.

  • Best Kept Secret

clueless white ppl. Its just like when your mother told you when your a kid ‘keep your hands to yourself’ race aside its just a rude thing to do.

  • Proud Black Woman

My white bfs like my nappy dugout. Thats good enough.

  • severine

“the natives?”” Seriously? Were they wearing loin cloths while touching your hair too?
You sound like an ignorant poser. Get yourself back to school. Going to Mexico and screwing a white dude clearly didn’t make you more intelligent like you had hoped.
