The Side-Eye: Kobe Bryant Says He Used To Catch Fade With Bullies Who Teased His Gay Friends Back In High School!!

- By Bossip Staff

To convince us you’re going to need a LOT more people sir.

ESPN’s Lisa Salters spoke to Kobe Bryant about his “fag” slur from last week. Bryant insisted that he’s not anti-gay and claims that he used to beat up kids in high school who would tease his gay friends. Or so he told Salters:

“Even though I didn’t mean it that way, I’ve since learned what that word still means to a lot of people. I went on-line myself and I did my own research and I saw and I read about kids who were committing suicide because of being teased for who they are. I don’t play that. I used to beat up a lot of kids even in high school who used to tease my friends because they were gay, or because they were black, or because they were Jewish, or because they were yellow, or because they were whatever. For people who don’t think my apology is sincere, they don’t know me. This isn’t over for me. I really plan to do more. What I said was ignorant and I really didn’t realize what I was saying. Now that I do and realize how it affects people I really plan to do more and to help with the awareness.”

Does THIS look like the face of someone who used to beat up bullies?

Yeah, we didn’t think so either…SMH

Do you believe Kobe’s superhero fairy tale???

hes not doing his image any favours by saying ” i used to beat up alot of kids, even in high school”. He should know better than to talk like that. the media can easily twist his words.

I say leave Kobe alone. He is just a Man. Yes, he has money and is in the public eye, but he is a human being. I read derogatory statements, comments all day long on these blogs but its supposed to be ok cause we are not “rich” or an nba player?? No FIX your own mouth first people!

Wow with playoff season comes a lot of emotions. So if they are going to pick at kobe over that then every player should keep their check book on hand….oh yeah praying for the 3peat!!!

  • ohplease

of course you straight people wouldn’t understand. i bet you if one of the white players called him the N word, you all would be screaming for him to be booted out of the NBA.

    • Soul Touch

I really dislike when people compare the struggles.

And by the way, that sh*t still goes on…Hockey, Soccer, etc black folks are still being called monkey, n*gger, apes, etc. So, really what’s your point?

    • getsummm

@soul Regardless of what your European friends have to say about it, that word is horrible.

In America, that word is shouted at people as they are beaten to death.

I think the best thing Kobe could do is just not to comment on it anymore. And I don’t believe him when he said he used to beat up kids in school about something like that. You need more people, sir. If anything, he was probably one of the people egging it on.

  • ignoranceisbliss

Kobe was catching fade because they were beating up his boyfriend….It was a slap fight.

    KoBe YeaH Right

    He’s still rich.

I am probably one of Kobe’s least fans. I mean I just do not care for this man at all. His Elitist attitude, his lack of interest in sisters, and the fact that he rarely is seen doing anything to increase the advancement of black people……BUT, for some reason I think he is being sincere here. And I do not think he meant gay as in (HOMOSEXUAL) I think he used it JUST because EVERYONE uses it as a means of demeaning someone. The Gay community does have cause to raise their eye brows, but I do not think he was hating on gays at all. And to the people who keep trying to put celebrities on the same level with regualr people GIVE IT A REST. When you ar ein the public you are treated differently plain and simple. They get the royal treatment-we don’t. So when they do soemthing stupid do not expect them to be treated like regular people.

I didn’t believe a word of what that liar said.

  • Tm30

Really? Highschool? Well apparently those apparent @ss whooping didn’t teach him anything. Maybe he should take his butt back to highschool for a refresher.

  • getsummm

This is the same b.s. that white people say after they drop the N word. “but I have so many black friends”..etc.

It doesn’t matter if Kobe has stood up for gay people before. That makes it even worse, because if he has love for gay people then he should know how terrible that word is. And that he should never say it. Don’t try 2 backtrack now Kobes.

  • tron
