Ho Sit Down…And Stay There! The Supreme Court Denies Wesley Snipes Tax Evasion Appeal

- By Bossip Staff

This guy can’t win for losing…

The Supreme Court has turned away the latest attempt by actor Wesley Snipes to get his conviction and prison sentence on tax charges overturned.

The high court refused Monday to hear an appeal from Snipes, convicted in 2008 on three misdemeanor counts of willful failure to file income tax returns.

Snipes started a three-year term in a federal minimum security prison in December. He has appeared in dozens of films, from “White Men Can’t Jump” and “Demolition Man” in the early 1990s to the blockbuster Blade trilogy.

Snipes wanted his trial held in New York City, where he says he lived, but the government brought charges against him in Florida, where Snipes held a driver’s license. The lower courts refused to let him have an evidentiary hearing on this issue.

But for what it’s worth he HAD to know he wasn’t gonna win this appeal. If didn’t pay your taxes…you’re guilty! SMH

I’m not feelin it because I will bet for every one Wesley Snipes there is, there are 742058996321562 white people who owe gazillions times hatrillions times gabillions of dollars to the IRS who will never see the inside of anybody’s federal prison cell and not because they have some ‘brilliant legal team’ but just because they will not be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Nope, Wes Snipes is not right but neither is this just across the board. #everybodypayyourtaxes #sowecanfightmorewarsandstuff

GOOD!!! When you get financial advice from a convicted tax evader you end up in jail!

  • AJ

I listened to him talk about his charges which have never carried a jail sentence. The charges he was convicted of were misdemeanors. And they sent him to jail to make an example of him. And in FL he wasn’t going to get a fair trial. Not being form here but living here I see what happens and yes believe he was treated very unfairly. He also did pay his taxes but the guy doing his taxes was filing improperly and he was held responsible. How many of you trust your advisor to do your taxes and don’t know what’s what? You could be in jail too.
