Rick Ross’ show-closing set at Summer Jam last night was one of the highlights of the show. But a source tells BOSSIP exclusively that Rozay had a much bigger look planned.

Rozay’s set unofficially started with his performance of “I’m On One” alongside Drake and Weezy at the end of Wayne’s set, followed by their new jawn “John.” Immediately after that, Ross went into his own set, which included special appearances by Diddy, Weezy, DJ Khaled, Ace Hood, Wale, Meek Mill and Jadakiss.

But according to a source close to the Maybach Music camp, Ross was counting on an appearance from Kanye West to really take the performance over the top. And while Kanye’s appearance alongside Ross had been confirmed behind the scenes, it simply did not happen.

And the only reason anyone can come up with is that since he was not booked for the show at all, for whatever reason, Kanye refused to let Ross outshine all of the other billed artist at his expense.

As a result, Kanye also skipped out on appearing on stage alongside his own artists Big Sean and Pusha T, both of whom performed songs from Kanye’s “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.”

Ross for his part is said to be livid: the Miami rapper has gone out of his way several times to support Kanye since “Dark Fantasy” was released back in November, performing with Yeezy at least five times this year. So he understandably takes it as a personal affront that Kanye would flake on him with no notice or explanation.

Kanye was definitely in New York this weekend.
