The situation in Somalia gets worse by the day.

The UN declared a famine in Somalia today. Tens of thousands of people have died in the last few months from starvation in the country and the UN says that $1.6 billion is needed to help. A whopping 3.7 million people in the country stuffer from starvation. This comes from the severe drought and the anarchy present.

One reporter went to Somalia and described the tragedy: “For months, people have been trudging out of the desert, leaving their dead children behind and carrying those who have managed to survive.”

Obama has pledged $28 million in aid, but 60 percent of the country is being controlled by a radical group related to Al-Qaeda, so those citizens won’t receive any aid.

Hopefully something can be done immediately to help those poor people in Somalia.
