Newsflash: It is illegal to bring weapons onto airplanes. We’re just sayin’…

Darius Miles was arrested on Wednesday after guards caught him trying to sneak a loaded gun through security at Lambert Airport in St. Louis, a jail official said Thursday.

Miles, a former NBA player, was released later that day — no charges have been filed.

Transportation Security Administration spokesman Greg Soule declined to confirm whether or not Miles had been arrested, but did say that TSA officials had contacted the police after a passenger was found with a gun during x-Ray screening around 3 p.m. Wednesday. Soule did not specify which make or caliber of gun it was or how Miles had it concealed, the Associated Press reported.

Calls to Miles’ attorney and to the St. Louis County prosecutor’s office were not returned. Miles’ phone number is unlisted.

Miles grew up in East St. Louis, Illinois. Drafted number three overall straight out of high school by the Los Angeles Clippers, the six-foot-nine forward eventually played for Cleveland, Portland. He last played in Memphis in 2009. He was invited to try out for the Charlotte Bobcats in 2010, but didn’t make the team.

In 446 career games, Miles averaged 10.1 points and 4.9 rebounds.

To those that may feel that we’re being too harsh on Darius…

Miles has run into trouble with the law before. He was arrested in May 2009 after police in Fairview Heights, Ill., found a small amount of marijuana during a traffic stop. Miles was pulled over after failing to use a turn signal. He was also ticketed for driving on a suspended license.

All were saying is that at some point you have to stop being a ig’nant ninja and get your life together. Clearly this fool hasn’t decided to make that transition…
