This ish is crazy.
Raelynne Simonin, 23, is charged with accessory after the fact in the shooting death of 6ft 9ins Jack Vincent Purselley, 39, in Sallisaw, Oklahoma.
Simonin is in jail in Pinal County, Arizona, after she drove there following the murder to tell police she had been kidnapped and raped by the men who killed her husband.
But after being questioned by deputies for more than an hour, she recanted that story and admitted she had made the 18-hour journey to speak to Purselley’s father about his son’s $ 1million life insurance policy.
She said she married Purselley, with whom she moved to Oklahoma from Arizona five weeks ago, because he told her she was the beneficiary of the policy, according to Sequoyah County Sheriff Ron Lockhart.
Purselley, who weighed 600 pounds and was on disability, was wanted on warrants out of Arizona, accused of conning people.
William Douglas Daniel, 51, of Sallisaw; Craig Neal Hart, 54, of Vian; and David Joseph Danylchuk, 52, of Sallisaw, have been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the killing.
Daniel, who is believed to be the shooter, according to arrest affidavits, has told investigators he and Simonin had been having a sexual relationship.
Purselley died on July 25 from multiple gunshot wounds.
His body was found in his home on July 27, after Arizona authorities alerted Sequoyah County.
Simonin told deputies she began to suspect her husband was not wealthy when bill collectors began hounding them, Sheriff Lockhart said.
The couple moved into their house in Oklahoma after Purselley gave the owners some money down and told them he had millions of dollars in the bank.
The three men arrested in Purselley’s death were friends with the homeowners. Sheriff Lockhart said the homeowners were not involved in the slaying.
Daniel and Danylchuk told deputies they went to Purselley’s home on July 25 at about 7.30pm. The plan was to frighten him with a .44 Magnum so Simonin could leave her husband.
Hart then went to the door with what looked like a U.S. Marshal’s badge and told Purselley he was being arrested on an outstanding child support warrant, the men said.
Daniel said Danylchuk pointed a 9mm pistol at him and told him he would shoot him if he did not shoot Purselley.
Daniel told deputies he shot Purselley five times out of fear.
But Danylchuk told authorities once they were in the house Simonin started yelling at Purselley, saying she wanted out of the relationship, and Daniel shot Purselley.
The four left but at about 5am the next day, Simonin, Danylchuk and Daniel returned and loaded two saddles into Simonin’s pickup.
Simonin walked past her husband’s dead body to retrieve her cellphone, clothing and other items before she left in her pickup for Arizona.
She went to police on July 27 with the story about being kidnapped and said she had escaped her captors.
Lockhart said he does not think Simonin, who has a clean criminal record in Arizona, thought the three men planned to kill Purselley when they went to their house that night.
He also said police had not yet confirmed the pair were married. ‘She said they were married Oct. 20, 2010, in Pinal County but we can’t find any record,’ Sheriff Lockhart said.
Simonin is expected to be extradited back to Oklahoma.
There is way too much going on with this one. These people all sound like a crazy bunch of con artists and liars and cheaters and murderers.
