Sellouts: Tavis Smiley Says Barack Obama Is The Only President Who Hasn’t Invited Him To The White House

- By Bossip Staff

Cry us a river Tavis:

When Cornel West recently spoke to The Huffington Post about media coverage of African American issues, the Princeton professor argued that President Obama is avoiding journalists who’ve offered tough critiques of his administration, such as PBS host Tavis Smiley. “Obama won’t touch him with a 10-foot pole,” West said.

On Wednesday, Smiley backed up West’s viewpoint during a C-SPAN sit-down with him to discuss their 16-city poverty tour.

“Prior to his being elected, he came on my radio programs and TV programs with regularity,” Smiley said. “Once he got elected and my critique of him — about holding him accountable to various things didn’t sit so well with him or the people around him — he has not, at this point, come on my TV or radio programs one time since he’s been in this White House.”

Smiley said that Obama, whom he’s known for years, “is the first president in my professional career that hasn’t invited me to the White House.”

If there was a white man in office, everybody here would be complaining.A President is supposed to be able to deal with answering the tough questions. When George Bush was not criticised by some news outlets because of his color, we were mad. Now every black person is supposed to agree with Obama just because he is black? That is a ridiculous notion. Let that man have his opinion.

  • gina

    When was George Bush right??

  • M

Thank you myopinion. Since when do have to agree with everything the president says and does just because of his color? The president is a POLITICIAN. That means it’s his job to make the country better, and to answer to critics when he doesn’t. And honestly, he doesn’t. We need to wake up. Electing a black president meant we have the se opportunities as others. But that also means we can phuk up just as well. Stop looking at obama’s skin and start looking at his record. Has unployment improved? Are we still at war? Is the economy still a mess?

  • gina

When was Bush right?? As a matter of fact its the first time I ever heard whining azz black people say they liked any president. Yea trifling folks that support random knob slobs did say they liked Bill Clinton.

Connie and Travalina….middle school and 1971 is over! Your mad because you did get invited to the “cool people” parties… played yourself! You didn’t get a position in the administration because you proved you could not be trusted!

  • gina

*not get invited to the cool people parties!

Travalina….its time for prempro! The say the Speaker of the house got some and he is no longer crying in public.

  • Lisa

Why is he a sell out? Just because you are black and do not back Obama policies doesn’t make you a sell out, it makes you and independent minded individual. Are all blacks supposed to agree with Obama? Please, you sheeps followed along with the other idiots and put an unqualified person into office because of his color and wanting to see history made, well now you have history and someone that caves at every corner. Please I am a black woman and I followed his record his votes, his policies and I did not agree with them so I made my own decision based on qualifications. I do it every day as an HR professional. Forget race and everything else I want the best qualified.

  • Oh no !

The plural for sheep is sheep.Wow HR professional.
