The first responders just keep getting screwed over.

The tenth anniversary of the September 11th attacks promises to be a major ceremony with families of the victims, presidents and celebrities all sure to be in attendance. The whole event will surely be on every television channel in the country. But one aspect will be missing:

None of the first responders that risked their lives to save the victims have been invited. In fact, they’ve been strictly told not to come. Mayor Bloomberg’s party is claiming that they don’t have any space for the first responders. Here’s the official statement from the mayor’s office:

“While we are again focused on accommodating victims’ family members, given the space constraints, we’re working to find ways to recognize and honor first responders, and other groups, at different places and times.”

Sounds like a bag of rubbish to us. Just honor them at the event and give the heroes their just due for once!
