Welcome Jaime Collins — now Jaime Thomas into the real actual “Basketball Wives” Club. Charlotte Bobcats forward Tyrus Thomas traded vows with the lovely Jaime earlier this summer (July 9) at Louisiana’s Old State Capitol in Baton Rouge.

The ceremony took place in the house chamber with beautiful stained glass as the backdrop. “Jaime didn’t want a lot of decor because the capital is beautiful in and of itself,” wedding planner Audi Brown revealed. When the couple exchanged rings, Tyrus surprised Jaime with a brand new wedding ring. “Her mouth just dropped open,” Brown says.
The bride donned a Vera Wang “Diana” strapless gown with a crystal belt and her shoes were custom beaded Christian Louboutin’s with blue crystals (a la “something blue). The groom showed his love for his new bride by gifting her with presents every hour leading up to their ceremony.
Thomas was suited up in a two-button European cut number by Brown and Brown which he paired with wing-tipped two-tone alligator shoes. He was joined by longtime friends Garrett Temple and Glen “Big Baby” Davis as best men/groomsmen.
Following the vows, the Michael Foster Band serenaded the newlyweds and their 400 guests, who walked in a second line parade with mardi gras beads and umbrellas to the reception. Tyrus and Jamie rode in a Cinderella-style carriage that he surprised her with at the wedding.
“Tyrus wanted Jaime’s day to be a fairytale princess wedding and it was,” Brown says. “He purchased an extraordinary Cinderalla carriage for her and it was decorated with beautiful flowers and crystals.”
If you noticed the tat on Jamie’s wrist, that is the same African symbol for perseverance that appeared throughout the ceremony and reception. Tyrus also has the same tattoo. It was used for the ice sculpture and they even had special “Perseverance” martinis.
The couple had their first dance to “Until The End Of Time” by Justin Timberlake featuring Beyonce.
Custom-cut mirrors by Custom Accents were made for each table and topped with candles and crystals to create a beautiful ambience. Centerpieces by Fleur du Jour, consisted of purple hydrangeas, dendobrium orchids, calla lilies, Phalaenopsis orchids and oriental lilies.
The dinner menu consisted of filet mignon, garlic shrimp, and crabcakes with potatoes and carrots. For dessert, brownie bites and bananas foster beignets were served.
The hand-painted groom’s cake, by Cake Goddess, was a surprise for Tyrus and designed to look like his favorite piece of Louis Vuitton luggage. “Inside were all of his favorite things like an iPad, sneakers and his New York hat,” wedding planner Audi Brown says. “He couldn’t believe it was real and kept saying ‘how did y’all get my luggage?'”
Before the night was over, a fireworks displays was set off in the night’s sky. “The back wall of the Riverview Ballroom is glass that overlooks the Mississippi River,” Brown says. “Everyone watched in awe.”
