This is really one of those situations where the parents really are just as much to blame…
A family sits down for dinner at Outback Steakhouse, when a waitress comes up and offers them a sample of a slushy. The mother asks if the drinks are alcoholic, waitress says no. So the adults all take one, and the kids have “a couple.”
This is the part that has us looking at the mother sideways:
Later the group realized that the drinks were alcoholic. “I couldn’t believe it,” she said, “I thought they were serving alcohol-free samples and I called over the manager and before I said anything to him my first question [was] ‘Is there alcohol in these?’ and he said ‘Yes.'”
“Later” you realized it? You didn’t realize when you took a sip that maybe you shouldn’t let the kids have “a couple”?
The manager apologized and comped the entire meal. He also offered to make a donation to the woman’s church but later reneged on the promise and told the family they would have to contact Outback Steakhouse’s legal department.
In a statement, Outback Steakhouse said, “We sincerely regret this mistake and we have terminated the server’s employment.”
SMH. Really, got to be more careful… all the way around.
