Samuel L. Jackson is Shonuff Motherf*cka

Samuel L. will be playing Shonuff the famed and legendary Karate hero, in a remake of The Last Dragon:

Having most recently played a dirty cop in “Lakeview Terrace,” Jackson is set to star as a bad guy again in Columbia Pictures’ remake of Berry Gordy’s 1985 cult classic “The Last Dragon.” Jackson will play Sho’nuff, the Shogun of Harlem, a role played in the original by the late Julius Carry, whose spiel included asking ego-driven questions like “Am I the baddest mofo lowdown around this town?” Each time his gang of thugs answered, “Sho ’nuff!” Those who achieve the high ranking possess the Glow, making them the greatest fighter alive. The original, which also starred one-namers Taimak and then-Prince protege Vanity.  “Last Dragon” did well at the boxoffice, grossing nearly $26 million. It soon became a cult classic for scenes like Bruce Lee follower Green remaining so loyal to the martial arts star that he eats his popcorn in a movie theater with chopsticks. “I’m a huge fan of the original and look forward to bringing Sho’Nuff into the 21st century,” Jackson said.

We can’t wait. Bruce Leroy and his little brother were pure comedy in that movie. We wonder who will play Bruce Leroy…probably Sisqo and his little brother, Richie, will be Bow Wow.

Right, i thought about it like naw not samuel then i thought of Dave Chappell doing that impression of him and I think he actually might work as Sho-Nuff!

Now why they gotta mess with a classic?! I will probably wait to see it on cable.

    Morning everyone!

  • Book Worm

I loved that movie. Sam could be a convincing Sho Nuff but Bruce Leroy’s corny ass made the movie. Damn he was fine 🙂

  • VoiceOfReason

Loved me some Bruce Leroy. I swore that my karate teacher was the dude that played that part, looked JUST like him!

Why bother remaking it? They can just put the original back out in theatres and make extra cash on all the folks that never saw it before. People would flock to it. Now, that’s a classic!

  • Bird

This must be planning on being a huge movie if Samuel is playing Sho Nuff who is not even the main character of the movie. Or will it be like Notorious where the lead character is a newbie and the supporting cast are the big stars? Nah, I can’t see it. Samuel is bigger than Angela Bassett and Derek Luke. I can’t imagine him playing second fiddle to a virtual nobody. I can’t wait to see what they do with it.

This is one of those movies you just don’t touch or dare to remake. There could never be a movie as tight as the Last Dragon. Man, why can’t people just leave a good thing alone. I know Hollywood will try to spin all these new things in it… Awwww man I’m sick to death…

  • samira

Samuel L. Jackson is the muffuggin’ man, but a remake?

  • Kompton's Kutie {{Suivez la Faveur}}

That was my movie back in the day, along with Breakin’. It’s too bad the original Shonuff died a couple of months ago. I wonder who will be Bruce Leroy?!

  • Elegance1981

This will be interesting. I would like to know who will play “leroy” and “leroy’s love interest” the soundtrack was banging. They are going to have to come correct with this one. Samuel Jackson would make a perfect Shonuff. 80’s baby for life

  • MajesticNegress

I can see him in this role, however I think aesthetically Busta Rhymes (had he kept his dreads) would have pulled this off as well.

  • da darkness

    body oil and roller skates

DIRRRTY BOOOKs…I found em’, I found em'”

LOVE this movie, I still have it on VHS somewhere. It’s been on HBO this month for those that want to check it out. Taimak was handsome then and he still is now. That dude aged very well.

  • Anonymous3 - the fire sign
