A Sacramento teen dad found that lesson out the hard way though.
A teenage father left his five-month-old daughter in a hot car while he went on a date, it was claimed today.
Christopher Johnson, who is only 18, had arranged to meet a woman inside McDonald’s, in Sacramento, California.
He allegedly parked his car some distance from the fast-food outlet, leaving his daughter locked inside.
A short time later a member of the public noticed the child in the car, according to ABC 7 news.
He became concerned and phoned police.
When officers arrived, they freed the girl who was described as been ‘distressed’ and ‘sweating profusely’.
It is understood she had been in the vehicle for about 30 minutes.
Police arrested Johnson at the scene when he returned to the car with a friend. He is likely to face serious charges of child neglect.
His daughter was taken into protective custody.
Police said she had recovered from her ordeal. It is unclear where her mother was at the time of the incident.
