This is so sad:

A 22-year-old pregnant woman, the victim of a hit-and-run this week, gave birth to a healthy baby and then died. Diann Ford was walking home from her job at Long John Silver’s restaurant late Tuesday when the incident occurred, San Marcos police Sgt. Christopher Tureaud said. She was struck as she was crossing the southbound Interstate 35 access road near East Hopkins Street..

Ford, 37 weeks pregnant, was taken to an Austin hospital that night. She gave birth by cesarean section Wednesday. The baby, a girl, was taken to the hospital’s pediatric intensive care unit. Ford died Thursday. Co-workers were shocked by the news. Before the incident, Ford had been excited about the baby and her future as a mother, said Kris Jaccard, Ford’s boss.

“She had picked out a name,” Jaccard said. “She knew she was having a girl.” Jaccard described Ford as a model employee who always showed up for work on time. She had started at the restaurant about six months ago as a cashier. “She was a very friendly, very nice, very caring person,” Jaccard said.

We hope there is a family member or someone that will be able to take care of that baby. R.I.P.
