Former Penn State Coach waived his right to a preliminary hearing in order to go directly to trial
Shook Ones: Former <strike>Peen State</strike> Penn State Coach “Scary” Jerry Sandusky Waived His Right To Preliminary Hearing
We believe there is a very good reason that Sandusky and his lawyers pulled this little move…
Former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky has waived his preliminary hearing, a decision that moves him toward a trial on charges of child sex abuse. At least some of his 10 accusers had been expected to testify at the hearing.
The move was announced as the hearing began Tuesday.
The decision, though unexpected, is not unusual in Pennsylvania.
At the hearings, prosecutors must show that they have probable cause to bring the case to trial. Prosecutors in this case were expected to meet that relatively low bar, in part because the case been through a grand jury.
Nevermind all of that, Jerry and his lawyers know damn well he didn’t want those accusers taking the stand to tell the graphic stories about how he molested them.
