Quote Of The Day: Trey Songz Says “I Could Make A Hundred ‘Bottoms Up’s’ But They Won’t Change Nobody’s Life”

- By Bossip Staff

Did this fool just call himself irrelevant??? Not exactly, but the singer, who posed for a GQ story about sports jackets, talked about his approach as an artist and his upcoming album Chapter V. He also admits that he may need to switch his steezle up in the near future.

Trey Songz on staying interesting:

“As an artist, you [need] a persona, a mystique. When you step into Twitter, Facebook, alla that… you’re giving a piece of it away.”

On being inspired by Marvin Gaye and his career’s evolution:

“I could make a hundred ‘Bottoms Up’s, but they won’t change nobody’s life. Marvin Gaye sang love songs to a certain point, and then it was like ‘F*ck this, I’m not clean-cut no more. I’m putting this skully on… I’m doing whatever the f*ck I wanna do.”

On if he will radically change his music in future albums:

“I might. Give me a couple of years, though.”

The full feature, “Trey Songz Gets It On,” can be found in the March issue of GQ, on newsstands now.

Why are we so not surprised that Trey Trey loves Marvin Gaye?
