It’s been more than a decade since we’ve heard Aaliyah’s sultry voice on a new track and it seems Drake has kept his promise with the release of “Enough Said” yesterday. So far it’s getting mixed reviews and has fans and critics asking a whole lot of questions. While it’s undoubtedly great to hear Aaliyah again, many are asking if Drizzy got permission from the fam or Missy and Timbo? Should he have allowed the producers (who were closest to her) to help out on the album? Does it show a lack of R.E.S.P.E.C.T.?

Timbaland said earlier this year:

“I know they trying to drop some Aaliyah records, but if [Drake] do it, it should be with me and him, and Missy,” he says. “I don’t know what’s going on. The proper way to do that would be for me, him and Missy to be all on the record. For it to be on his record, that would not be right.”

Some argue that they’re happy to hear Aaliyah’s angelic voice on a completely new track, regardless of how it came to fruition. Others say the track, produced by Noah “40” Shebib, ruins what we love most about Aaliyah when Drake chimes in about money, fame, and haters (Chris Brown references are all up in it). Many critics have asked to hear the track without Drake spittin’ on it so fans can just hear that voice they still miss so much.

Check out the track and let us know what you think:

Is this a poor call on Drizzy’s part or do we need to give him a ‘lil credit?

Regardless, we’re still happy to listen to Aaliyah on repeat and Enough Said can be added to our playlist.
