The poll booth ain’t a photoshoot…
Beyonce Tweets Ballot And Breaks The Law
It’s that time of year again! Election day and excited Americans are tweeting their political affiliations for the world and Instagram to see.
Tuesday morning, Beyonce shared a photo of her Texas absentee ballot in NYC. And while we’re sure she meant no foul by it, the social media (un)aware mommy banger might need to chill with the ballot snaps.
According to Citizen Media Law Projects website New York law is very clear:
“Any person who…makes or keeps any memorandum of anything occurring within the booth, or directly or indirectly, reveals to another the name of any candidate voted for by such voter; or shows his ballot after it is prepared for voting, to any person so as to reveal the contents…is guilty of a misdemeanor.”
New York: Voters are prohibited from showing their ballots after prepared for voting to any person so as to reveal the contents.
Unfortunately, Bey ain’t the only one getting a little snap happy on Twitter and around the web. Put the phone down and vote. Your political picks don’t need a filter or likes. Simple as that.
