GM Cancels 50 Cents Truck Sponsorship

General Motors has just received their bailout and they are putting the brakes on all shady ventures, including 50’s G8 truck:

General Motors Corporation has confirmed today (January 7) plans to cancel the Pontiac G8, a 50 Cent sponsored sport truck. The two-door, six-foot bed vehicle was scheduled to debut in North America in 2010. 50 Cent first introduced the G8 sport truck last March at the New York International Auto Show. In a statement to the Associated Press, Pontiac spokesman Jim Hopson stated the cancellation is part of a restructuring plan within GM due to the recession and the company’s long-term “vision for Pontiac.”

Like we have said before 50, it is time to cut your losses, savor your assets, and move out of that gawdy house. SMH

    They dont see the need to pay him all that money…a lot of dealers are cutting back on advertising…

  • Aunt Viv

    If that’s true, then I think it’s not a bad move in this recession. Fitty will get over it.

    HELLO AUNT VIV

  • eveinthegarden

    Never mind shady…its probably just the fact that nobody is BUYING them big monster trucks anymore. Why invest advertising in ’em?

  • Aunt Viv

    Co-sign eveinthegarden. This is a sound fiscal decision.

  • Redd Tony

    I dont like 50, but from a business view it may be a mistake…Why? Negros love Escalades and Suburbans, and will buy them no matter what…Sad but true…

    @eveinthegarden

    Actually the #1 selling VEHICLE was the Ford F150

  • charlieblanko

    OK GUYS, see that little truck he is sitting on ?
    That is no where close to a big-truck. His little g8 was the equivalent of a sport-tracker or a sports utility vehicle. You are correct though aunt viv. A sound business move, regardless.
