The windy city just can’t seem to catch a break these days….

Chicago Named Fourth Most Miserable City By Forbes

A year filled with violence, death and  senseless tragedy has landed the grief-stricken city of Chicago in the fourth spot on the Forbes list of most miserable cities in America for 2012.

With its violent crimes, high unemployment, dwindling population and financial crisis, Detroit was named on Thursday as the most miserable city in the United States.

It toppled Miami, which held the title last year, and surpassed Flint, Mich., Rockford and Chicago in Illinois, and Modesto, Calif., which rounded out the five most unhappy urban areas on the list.

Rockford was ranked third due to its 11.2 percent unemployment rate, Forbes said. Forbes cited violent crime, high foreclosure rates and declining home prices as the reason it pushed Chicago into the fourth spot, along with its high cost of living. Lake County, Ill., finished No. 9 on the list, with its home prices down 29 percent over the last five years. Milwaukee, Wis., was No. 14 and Gary, Ind., No. 19.

To compile the list, Forbes looked at 200 of the country’s largest urban areas and ranked them on factors including crime rates, foreclosures, taxes, home prices, commute times, weather and decreasing populations.

Are we the only ones surprised that Miami topped last year’s list? Surely Double D don Ricky Rozay has to eat up ease some of that Miami “misery”, riiiiiight?
