Rapper Lil Boosie Earns His GED While Serving Time In Prison

Via MTV reports:

Less than a year after being acquitted of murder charges stemming from a 2010 indictment, Lil Boosie, who could be a free man as early as this summer or next year on parole for an eight-year sentence on drug charges, is the recipient of more great news: he fulfilled his requirements to complete Angola State Prison’s GED program.

The rapper born Torrence Hatch donned a blue cap and gown for the graduation ceremony and shared his accomplishment with the people who have supported him the most: his family. In a photograph that has made the rounds on the Internet, Boosie’s closest relatives flank the smiling Baton Rouge spitter as they hold his new diploma for a priceless Kodak moment.

The Bad Azz MC’s strides in education are in line with his goals for self-improvement, which he outlined in a special interview with Spin Magazine earlier this year.

“I’ve coped by knowing in my heart that I’m someone special who many people love. If you lose hope in yourself, you’ll make your time hard. I always felt that my mission wasn’t complete. I feel I haven’t reached the star power that was destined for me,” Boosie wrote in a letter to Spin. “That makes me keep writing and thinking of ways to better myself as a man and artist. When it feels like the world is on my shoulders, I look at my pictures from when I was free and it gives hope and determination to pushing.

Maybe now he can help Fantasia with her reading skills…
