Jewish Man Stabs His Wife To Death For “Casting Spells” On Him
A woman was found stabbed to death inside her Brooklyn home Monday night — weeks after her emotionally disturbed husband was last seen, police sources and neighbors said.
Police sources paraphrased the contents of a chilling note left by her body: “I killed my wife – she was casting spells on me.”
The decomposing body of the victim, identified as Chava Friedfertig, 55, was discovered by her landlord after he received reports of a foul odor coming from her Avenue N apartment in Midwood, sources said.
Neighbors in the Orthodox Jewish area said the landlord called Hatzolah resue service, which then called cops from the scene.
The woman had been stabbed repeatedly, police sources said. But the body had decomposed so much it was not immediately clear that she had been stabbed, said one cop source.
“There was blood everywhere,” one neighbor said.
Neighbors said the woman was found in bed, with one leg sticking out from under the covers. She worked in early education and was “terribly withdrawn,” they said.
Her husband, Yakob, who neighbors described as emotionally volatile, had not been seen for weeks.
No word on whether or not police found any spell-casting evidence, but even if they did, that isn’t exactly an air-tight defense that will hold up in court: “Your honor, that b!^$# went witch on me, and wasn’t havin’ it”.
