Quote of the Day

Duane Dog Chapman speaks to Fox News:

“I thought that I was cool enough in the black world to be able to use that word as a brother to a brother. I’m not. I didn’t really know until three or four days ago what that meant to black people. There’s a special connection that I thought I had between me and black America. And I used to say, ‘I’m black, too.’

“In other words, my whole life I’ve been called a half-breed, a convict, king of the trailer trash, this and that…so when I stood there and said, ‘I kind of know what you feel like, because I’ve been there, too,’ that I felt that I could embrace and like, as brothers…say the word. I now learned I’m not black at all, and I never did it out of hate. This sounds so stupid. I always did it out of love. Other white guys would be like, ‘Boy, who does Dog think he is? Dog can say that.’ And black guys would be with me and walk with me and respect me. So, I went too far with that.”

It’s too late for all that explaining now, SMH.

That is what happens when “we” use that word when refering to friends. “Others” hear it and think that it okay for them too.

HOLD UP, WAIT A MINUTE…..don’t try and come with that kinship nonsense now that you have been called out….when you wear my skin and go through what I go through can you call yourself my black brother….

  • Candace

…which is EXACTLY why that word has no place in our vocabulary – got everybody thinkin’ that if you’re black OR if you’re cool with black folk, they can use it by default. And Nas, Monique, Damon Wayans (and many mo’) think the word is harmless? Get Wise People!!

  • shay

he needs to stop trying to fix his career. Listen to the tape on the internet. He bluntly states that if his son doesn’t break up with that n**ger he would be out of a job. He actually refers to black people as niggers more than four times on a four minute tape. He needs to stop, he is a racist

You make a very good point. Black people stop using this word. It’s bad. PERIOD. Some blacks folks have been “letting” Dog use this word like it was okay and when he became comfortable with it and using it too much it came back to bite him in the ass. I’m soo tired of AAs using this word like it’s a term of enderment. I am more offended when a black person uses this word than a white person. When will those who use this word wake the hell up??????

  • Morpheus

    He got jokes…LOL

  • Monte

Thats the best joke I heard all day, and I 110% agree with what Nicefellow31 said

(That is what happens when “we” use that word when refering to friends. “Others” hear it and think that it okay for them too.) It’s very easy to stop saying the word JUST STOP LETTING IT COME OUT OF YR MOUTH!!

But back to “DOG” when did he get his Ghetto Pass??

    It’s been revoked now!!!

You know what all the people on here dissin Dog are some hypocrites. Don’t the rappers use the word? Even the ones who aren’t black. Eminem, Big Pun and the rest of those cats that art Puerto Rican, hell JLo even said it. That’s why Dog was confused. Some AAs seem to think they own the damn word and are handing out passes for others to say it like it a “get outta jail free card”. If you don’t like it stop using it and supporting people who do other wise STFU!

Racism is pretty much at it’s highest peak now…now u got celebs showing their true colors of a racist…what’s next?… i smell a “Racial War” brewing…

  • AND...

I agree there is a racist war brewing but it won’t be between the people that you think.

  • Anonymous3

I agree, but you see the bad publicity JLo got for using that word….the word was meant to demean and I think we used it still to demean each other…somewhere along the way we fooled ourselves into thinking that we could turn it into an endearment and that we were the only ones that could use it….the funny thing is I don’t see other minority groups taking racists words used against them and using it on each others….i.e I have never heard Mexicans call each other wetbacks or spics

    GTFOH!!! He kills me…literally…i’m dead

  • AND...

Exactly!! Why are we the only minority using a word that we ALL KNOW stemmed from hatred and using on each other. What the hell do y’all (and by y’all I mean the ones who use it or support it) really think our ancestors, you know the ones who were called that on a daily by white folks, would think of us using that word to refer to each other? What do you think Martin Luther King Jr. would say? Do you even care? It’s seems like the only time we can unite as a group is when we are fighting white folks on racism when we are the very ones being racist. I don’t understand-SMH.
