Woman Drowns Trying To Rescue Turtle From Lake Lanier

Via WSBTV reports:

The Department of Natural Resources says a woman who drowned in Lake Lanier over the weekend was trying to rescue a turtle from the water at her home.

According to the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, Marines Dillon, lost her balance and fell into the water from the dock of her Hope Road home.

The husband of 59-year-old Marines Rosa Dillon, Dan Dillon said she was trying to grab a turtle from the water when she fell in. Unable to swim, Dan jumped in to try to help her, but he could not swim either.

A neighbor heard the couple screaming, and ran to the dock to help. He called 911.

An EMT crew arrived to the dock, and said the Dillons were a few feet away from the short. Marines was unresponsive, so EMT started CPR.

Mr. Dillon was in better shape, the spokesperson reported. He was conscious and responsive, but exhausted.

Mr. and Mrs. Dillon were taken to Northside Forsyth. Mrs. Dillon died a little later.

Wait… WHAT?!? That brave lady gave her life trying to rescue a turtle! We just hope heaven got a pet store…
