It’s official, Jennifer Hudson is back to stay:
Jennifer Hudson made her first foray back into public life with an emotional performance of the National Anthem at the Super Bowl Sunday – and now she has signed on to sing at the 40th NAACP Image Awards on Feb 12.
Hudson, 27, got a standing ovation after her rousing performance in Tampa, her first public appearance since her mother, brother and nephew were murdered in Chicago in October.
Hudson’s next performance will be Friday, Feb. 6 at the 2009 MusiCares Foundation gala, two days before she sings at the 51st annual Grammys where she is nominated for four awards.
Next up, the Dream Girls star, who received two NAACP Image Award nominations (for The Secret Life of Bees and her album Jennifer Hudson) will perform at the NAACP Image Awards in Los Angeles. The show, to be aired on FOX at 8 p.m. ET, will be co-hosted by Halle Berry and Tyler Perry.
More news for the JHud stans:
Jennifer Hudson is to follow up her triumphant return to public life with a six-week tour. The singer/actress wowed sports fans watching the Super Bowl on Sunday with her first performance since the murders of her mother, brother and nephew in October drove her into hiding.
The Oscar winner sang the U.S. National Anthem before the big game. And now she’s planning a tour this spring. Her manager Damien Smith tells EW.com that Hudson will headline a theatre-sized tour in late March or early April. He says, “Everybody stay tuned. You’ll be seeing a lot more of her.”
The diva in the making is getting back on track and we for one are relieved to see a sista who can actually sang get the recognition and respect she deserves.
