A Pensioner has appeared in court accused of repeatedly hurling homophobic abuse at his neighbours – often while sounding an air horn.

Reginald Brayford, aged 65, faced a judge at Plymouth Magistrates’ Court accused of harassing two men over six months.

He denies harassment and threatening behaviour.

Brayford, of Beaumont Road, St Judes, allegedly pursued a course of conduct which amounted to the harassment of the two men between January 1 and June 25 this year.

The charge states: “You shouted homophobic abuse on numerous occasions, on many of those accompanied by the activation of an air horn.”

Brayford allegedly shouted on one occasion outside his home that homosexuals “should be put down”.

He is further charged with threatening behaviour on June 24.

Caroline Gates, for the Crown Prosecution Service, said the one complainant was aged 53 and the other was 74 years old

District judge Jeff Brailsford set a trial date for September 24. Brayford was released on bail until that date.

An air horn? Really??? What was he doing? Alerting the community that there was gay sex in progress??? SMH
