Chance The Rapper And D Wade To EP New Documentary

A new documentary, that was executive produced by Chance the Rapper and Dwyane Wade, is set to premiere on Fox on February 24, according to Pitchfork. Titled, Shot in the Dark, the film follows the journey of Chicago’s Orr Academy High School, while primarily focusing on the story of one player: Tyquone Greer.

Greer was shot at a house party one week before a  very significant game. He still showed up to the match in crutches, but he made only one shot—the shot that just happened to be the game-winner, that sending his team to the final four. This is the film’s director Dustin Nakao Haider’s debut feature documentary.

This film sets out to connects systematic issues in Chance and Wade’s hometown of Chicago with the empowering nature of sports. “Basketball empowered me to overcome the challenges of growing up on the south side of Chicago,” Wade announced in a press release. “The odds were stacked against me, and the game changed the course of my life. It’s important to share these true stories of triumph to inspire the next generation to achieve their dreams when faced with life’s obstacles.”

The film is said to be part of a larger series from Fox titled, Magnify. The series’ purpose is to reflect culture through the lens of sports and also includes the film 89 Blocks, which came out in November and is a product of LeBron James’ UNINTERRUPTED.
