Deion Sanders Investigated For Assault
Via Dallas News reports:
Kevin Jefferson, an employee of the charter school, said he was in a faculty meeting with several witnesses at the school on the 330 block of East Ann Arbor Ave. on Wednesday afternoon. Sanders and other administrators and teachers were meeting and Jefferson said Sanders got upset that some student athletes are not doing well in school academically “He was a little upset and a little emotional,” Jefferson said, and he and Sanders got into a verbal disagreement.
Jefferson told police that he told the suspect not to speak to him that way, according to a police report. “He walked back to the back of the classroom to where I was sitting in a desk,” Jefferson told our Tanya Eiserer this morning. “As he got closer to me, I stood up because he was kind of standing over me and he just kind of kept talking to me and at me and then he just grabbed me by my throat and kind of threw me to the ground. Some people had to get him off of me.”
Jefferson said he went to the hospital to check on any injuries he might have sustained during the incident. He flagged down police after he left. He told the Dallas Morning News that he has not had any previous confrontations with Sanders.
“I’m going to pursue my options with my attorney,” he said. “I just think it’s unacceptable in a professional environment particularly at a school for that kind of behavior to go on.”
Smells like a lawsuit!
Via TMZ reports:
Deion Sanders tells TMZ … he did not CHOKE SLAM an employee at the school he co-founded … but acknowledges there was a physical confrontation.
Cops in Dallas are investigating violent allegations made by Kevin Jefferson, the CFO of Prime Prep Academy … a charter school Deion co-founded last year.
According to Jefferson, Sanders flew off the handle after learning that some of the school’s student athletes were not doing well in their classes.
Jefferson says Sanders got “upset and a little emotional” and then “grabbed me by my throat and kind of threw me to the ground.”
But Sanders says it’s all BS — telling TMZ, “We locked up with one another … but he was not physically assaulted.”
He adds, “He’s looking for a pay day. I did nothing to that gentleman that warranted an assault.”
Sanders later tweeted, “The Person claiming assault is a fake administrator whom does absolutely nothing to help the school, kids or teachers reach our goals. Truth.”
He added, “I won’t sit&witness my PrimePrep kids receive 2nds when they deserve the BEST EDUCATION!”
Deion says he’ll cooperate fully with the investigation — so far, he’s not been contacted by police.
