Chubby lumpkins comedian/”SNL” star Kenan Thompson sparked outrage with his comments that Black women aren’t ready (or funny enough) for “SNL” and, naturally, Twitter exploded. So, rather than feed into the close-minded negativity, we compiled a list of hilarious Black women who would easily shine on the very white and unfunny sketch show “SNL.”
Here are ten Black women who could star on SNL. Take a look.
Issa Rae
Her sophisticated brand of funny built on awkward everyday situations doesn’t always connect with everyone but we believe she’s versatile enough to shine on “SNL.”
Aisha Tyler
Very few women are beautiful AND funny like the bubbly actress/comedienne known for her unforgettable roles on “Talk Soup” and “Archer.”
Jessica Williams
If you watch “The Daily Show,” you’ve seen the sharp-witted comedienne delivering hilariously snarky news bits as the show’s correspondent.
Gabby Sidibe
She would always play sassy real-life cartoon characters like Madea but is easily one of the funniest actresses in Hollywood.
Regina Hall
The effortlessly funny actress is too versatile to fit into the “comedienne” box and had the funniest scenes in the “Scary Movie” series.
Wanda Sykes
Top 5 Black comedienne EVER? Many believe so.
Kim Wayans
Aside from her Oscar worthy-performance in “Pariah,” she’s been quiet since “In Living Color” but still over-the-top hilarious, we’re sure.
Luenelle
She’s only situationally funny which is perfect for a late-night sketch show like “SNL.”
K. Michelle
The Queen of Section 8 Soul is absolutely hilarious, especially when she’s being her normal, everyday, Flamin Hot Cheeto-scented self on “Love & Hip-Hop.”
