Collecting Medals, Making History: Lauryn Williams Wins Silver Bobsledding Medal

Lauryn Williams, the track star turned bobsledder, has become only the fifth person ever to win a medal in both the Summer and Winter Olympics. Get it girl! Williams and her partner Elana Meyers, whose father is Eddie Meyers formerly of the Atlanta Falcons, clenched the silver medal, yesterday losing the gold to Russia by .1 second. According to Yahoo Sports, Williams, 30, began running at the age of 9 in Detroit and won gold in the U.S. relay team in the 2012 London games. Americans, Jamie Greubel and Aja Evans, were also on the podium with Williams and Meyers as they clenched the bronze medal. It was the first time the U.S. has woman two medals in the bobsledding event. Lolo Jones, who hasn’t been faring too well in these games is actually the one who suggested Williams try her hand at bobsledding. Jones took special pride when Williams walked out to accept her medal…
