Dondria – “Coat Tail”

Texas-born R&B songstress Dondria Nicole is making her way back onto the music scene and ready to leave her mark on the music industry in a major way. You might remember her from her previous chart-topping single “You’re The One,” off her first album “Dondria vs. Phatfffat,”  and she’s now moving forward with her powerhouse vocals at the helm.

The soul-singin’ southern belle recently released her new single titled “Coat Tail” off of her upcoming EP and she had this to say about her new sound when BOSSIP caught up with her for a quick chat earlier this week:

On how she would describe her current sound:
It’s authentic R&B that’s definitely sassy and has it’s own swag.

On her musical influences:
Well you know, being from Texas, Destiny’s Child was big when I was growing up and pursuing my career as an artist so, definitely them. Also, Etta James…..and Whitney Houston, for sure. So yeah, those three.

On Jennifer Hudson’s recent comments that there’s too many songs about sex, clubbing and drinking in R&B music right now:
I think that there needs to be balance. There’s nothing wrong with singing about those things but, you have to balance it out with other stuff too.

You take a listen to Dondria’s latest single “Coat Tails” below and what you think.

So what’s the verdict, Bossip fam? Do you hate it or love it?
