Mother Outraged After Son Is Forced To Clean Toilets In Detention
Schools across the country have been keeping their promise to begin cracking down harder on unruly students in every grade level, but one Maryland woman says her son’s school went too far after she learned that he was forced to clean toilets as punishment during detention.

One Maryland mother is furious after learning her 5th grade son was forced to clean during an after school detention.
Henry Hawkins is a 5th grader at Longfields Elementary School in Forestville, MD.
The boy says he got into an argument with a classmate, and his mother says she received a dentition notice for the boy.
“He asked, mommy, do you like to clean toilets?,” Neshanna Turner said.
Turner says a photo taken shows the boy scrubbing a desk during the detention. The boy says he also had to clean toilets, push a cart around and put chairs on desks in classrooms.
Even worse, Turner says that the boy suffers from asthma. The 5th grader even had to stay home from school on Thursday because he was not feeling well.
“If you want to give them detention, that’s fine,” Turner said, “Have them come in, sit down, do their homework, give them an essay or a writing assignment.”
Kids most definitely need to suffer consequences for acting up in school so they know not to do it again, but do you think this school went too far?
