Michelle Obama on Fashion & Fitness

The Hottest Chick in the Game gives us a glimpse into some of the daily goings ons of The Obama’s in the White House:

When it comes to fashion, Barack and Michelle Obama clash like a bad outfit. “He doesn’t understand fashion,” she tells The New York Times in a new interview. The first lady adds that he even refers to one of her gray metallic belts as “my ‘Star Trek belt.'” “He’s always asking, ‘Is that new? I haven’t seen that before,'” she says. “It’s like, ‘Why don’t you mind your own business? Solve world hunger. Get out of my closet.'”

She says her husband typically tells her things like: “You didn’t need any more shoes. The shoes you had on yesterday were fine. Why can’t you just wear that for the rest of the presidency?” Another hot-button issue for the first lady: Her body. “I have hips,” she tells the Times. Pointing to her Maria Pinto skirt, she adds, “I have them covered up with these pleats.”

She says she has to follow an exercise regimen of light weights, calisthenics, jump-rope and a cardiovascular routine (including interval running) so she can feast on dessert, burgers and fries.
Fries “are my favorite food in the whole wide world,” she says. “I could live on French fries.”

She says her greasy food habit hasn’t rubbed off on daughters, Sasha, 10, and Malia, 7.
Asked if they eat at fast food restaurants, she says, “Some of them I want to go to, because it’s quick and easy, and you figure, ‘Well, we ate fine all week, guys, let’s go get this.'” But she says, “They’re like, ‘No, Mommy, we won’t be eating there.’ And I feel like, ‘Darn, where are we going to go?'”

Damn. It sounds like Barack & Michelle be cuttin’ up. Lol at her telling him to stay out of her closet and go solve world hunger. SMH.

I love them and what they stand for, but I do hate the media hype they are getting.

While I understand the novelty here, being the first African Americans in the White House, people seem to lose sight of the most important thing here. Their jobs.

They are NOT celebrities, socialites or anything like that. Barack Obama is the PRESIDENT of the United States of America–the most powerful country in the world. He has a very important job to do, and given the economic, environmental and global social climates our country is in, he has a very DIFFICULT job. This also falls on Mrs. Obama’s shoulders to an extent. I get the feeling that some people don’t give them the respect they’re due. You didn’t have a three-ring media circus of these proportions around other presidents; I believe Mr. and Mrs. Obama should be afforded the same respect.

In a few words, what I’m saying is FALL BACK AND LET THESE PEOPLE GET US OUT OF THIS MESS.

THat is why there has to be his and hers closets. Men think 1 pair of black shoes is enough. No sir that pair of black pumps is totally different than that pair of black heels!!

  • darealwifey

They are a cute couple. @ Soul Ese…black folks could stand a few more “bougie” people. They sound like kids who have healthy minds and bodies. We should all pray for those traits in our children.

Uh, no, Michelle is NOT the fashionista. Barack got her beat hands down. I love her, but she’s definitely not a fashion role model, but she is where it counts…intelligence, confidence and self esteem. I love her real deep but she hasn’t worn anything I’d even think about having in my closet. I had hoped that she’d bring some style to the white house, but she bring the real deal, so kudo’s
