Yesterday, we told you that Sundy Carter was arrested for driving while drunk Memorial Day weekend. In case you missed it, the “Basketball Wives LA” star was pulled over by officers after she was spotted heading eastbound in a westbound traffic lane. After blowing a .18 on her breath test, the reality star was arrested and booked on DUI charges. Shortly after the news broke, Sundy released a statement regarding the incident and she seems super apologetic.

While this infamous quote from the movie The Color Purple was spawn from a fictitious character that was referring to a history of sexual abuse, many black women can relate to these words in some way or another. I know I can. Being a double minority (black and a woman), I’m sure we have all experienced unwarranted criticism and judgment, prejudice, and mistreatment; but have we let the actions of others turn us sour? Never will I feed into the angry black woman stereotype, but I can’t help but wonder if at times we can be too defensive.

Fans of LeVar Burton‘s long-running PBS show Reading Rainbow rejoiced Wednesday morning when the host and actor launched a $1 million Kickstarter campaign to expand upon its extended educational app. Within hours, those fans showed love with their wallets by helping Burton reach his goal and the money is continuing to pour in even now. Burton and his RRKIDZ development team hit big with the Reading Rainbow app when it was launched for iPad users back in 2012.
