Laverne Cox Earns Best Supporting Actress Critics’ Choice Nod
After making history with a TIME Magazine cover feature, Laverne Cox is now breaking ground for transgender actresses in the industry with a nomination for Best Supporting Actress.
Mind you, the Critics’ Choice Awards are a pretty good barometer for what shows and actors will sweep the Emmys later this year…so it’s likely that she’ll cop even bigger accolades later in the year.
With the rough time Black women have getting meaningful roles and equal recognition in Hollywood, do you think it’s fair for a transgender actress to be nominated in the women’s category?
Or, on the flip side, since she identifies and lives her life as female, does she deserve a nomination in the women’s category regardless of what may or may not be between her legs?
What are your thoughts?
