Will the real Ashley Chiasson please stand up????

Woman Suing Florida Sheriff’s Office For Wrongful Imprisonment

A Louisiana woman who was wrongfully extradited and imprisoned in the state of Florida not once but TWICE, is planning to sue.

Can you blame her???

The New York Daily News reports:

An innocent Louisiana mom is suing Florida police after she spent five weeks in jail because she shares a name with a wanted woman, she claims.

Ashley Nicole Chiasson, of Chelmette, said officers in Clay County came to her Louisiana home and arrested her in January. They accused her of grand theft — a felony — and took her back to a Florida jail, Jacksonville’s WJXT reported.

The single mother spent 28 days in jail before convincing cops she was the wrong Ashley Chiasson. She had never even been to Clay County, she said.

Then, when Chiasson appeared in court in May to have the charges dropped, she was wrongly arrested for a second crime, trying to cash a fraudulent check, she said.

The Louisiana mom spent another week in jail for that arrest.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office admitted it made a mistake, and it’s not the first time the department has confused people with similar names. In August, an officer arrested the wrong Cody Williams, sending an innocent teenager to jail for 35 days for sexually battery.

Chiasson has hired a lawyer and plans to sue for emotional distress.

She claimed that she lost her job and home while she was in jail. Her mother and boyfriend had to take in her 12-year-old daughter and 2-year-old son.

Without her family’s help, “I’d probably be homeless in Florida trying to find my way back home,” she told the TV station.

“It makes me feel like I’m the worst person in the world to my children,” she told the Florida Times-Union.

Florida just can’t get right…
