LOS ANGELES — Vivid Entertainment Group on Monday said that Kim Kardashian had agreed to a settlement and has dropped her suit against the adult video company over the release of “Kim Kardashian Superstar.”
Vivid released the video last month on DVD and through download-to-DVD on AllAdultChannel.com, as well as an online stream at KimKSuperstar.com.
Vivid would not disclose terms of the deal; however, Us Weekly said that Vivid settled with Kardashian for close to $5 million.
Sources told Us that Vivid has agreed to cease distribution of the video by the end of May.
“Kim Kardashian Superstar” is a sex video Kardashian made three years ago with then-boyfriend and recording artist William Ray Norwood Jr., also known as Ray J.
Kardashian, daughter of O.J. Simpson lawyer Robert Kardashian and a close friend of Paris Hilton, claimed she had not authorized release of the video.
Vivid claims it paid an unidentified third party $1 million for the tape.
“We are pleased that Kim has dropped her legal action against us,” said Steven Hirsch, co-chairman of Vivid Entertainment. “We met with her several times and finally reached a financial arrangement that we both feel is fair.”
“We’ve always known we had the legal right to distribute this video which became an instant best-seller, and we’ve always want to work something out with Kim so she could share in the profits,” he said.

But, brothers need to be more understanding of their sisters’ situation(s). Since you are not black or colored, I can understand why don’t get what the fuss is all about. The reality for people of color is that the lighter/more Euro you are (especially if you’re a female), the “better”/”more valuable” you are considered to be. These issues about color/hair/blackness/non-blackness are the residual impacts of the enslavement/colonization of colored people. All colored populations have this problem, not just black Americans. You may just see a “pretty” girl, when you look at a non-white woman. But, when colored people look at their own, they are often looking at the color/hair/features of a woman before they even decide whether they think she is attractive or not. And, the reality is that, in mainstream society, you will be treated better/have more representation if you are more like caucasians. I think Reggie Bush is hot. But, how many black females do you see with his face/hair/coloring represented as hot or beautiful? Most colored women have to be tan or lighter to be really popular beauties (e.g. Beyonce, Rihanna, Frieda Pinto, Salma Hayek, the list goes on). There are MANY beautiful dark colored women, of all races. But, their OWN communities are not representing them as such. That’s why so many black American’s select focus on women like Halle Berry or Tyra when they want to represent their beauty. That’s why so many Bollywood actresses are very fair like Aishwarya Rai. The majority of black Americans don’t look like Halle or Tyra. And, the majority of Indians do not look like Aishwarya. Yet, that is how their communities want to be perceived. That is what their communities think they need to look like to be “beautiful”. I’m not mad at you for your comments. But, as a white woman, you will never fully understand these issues. But, they are real. It’s unfortunate. But, people of color have been oppressed for so long, that they have serious psychological issues with being “colored”. And, I agree with you that many white males like/love very dark-skinned black women. As a matter of fact, I think very black/black-looking females should date white males, because they will find more appreciation for their physical appearance. Very few black males are looking for a dark/black-looking woman like themselves. It is very sad and hypocritical. There’s a difference between liking “brown” skin, and loving one’s own “black” skin. But, these issues are far deeper and more substantive than can be addressed in this blog. I just thought I share with you so that you might have a better idea of the situation.

Thank you for the post. I understand what you are saying. It is a deep issue… and just one of the issues the race faces in today’s society. It is an unfortunate reality. But I do enjoy discussing the topic, because knowledge is power. And if we each commit to gaining knowledge about each other’s cultures and learning to appreciate our differences, the world would be a far better place.
Regarding the black women in mainstream media (hollywood and such) Naomi is pretty dark, isn’t she? There was another top model who was very dark, Nigerian I believe. I remember finding her really beautiful. But you’re right, it’s almost like the white culture has had to be spoon fed black culture little by little…. in order for blacks to gain acceptance. The music industry has been the exception I think.

So, I think whites played a big part in promoting certain black features (full lips, dark skin, kinky hair), as beautiful. Maybe I’m wrong, but I don’t remember the push coming from the black community. Black people love their pretty brown girls with thin lips/noses and “good” hair. So, today, when I hear about how much we “love” or full lips, I think of the times when I was a girl and I didn’t have that impression.
It is nice having these conversations, but they’re so personal and sensitive that they can be difficult to hold. I too am an open-minded person and love to learn about/appreciate/share my life with people of different cultures/backgrounds. It’s nice to meet someone who feels the same.

No one is saying that only black women have natural big *****es, but you must admit that most races have their own unique differences. I think alot of brothers call themselves trying to deflate BW’s egos by making it seem like she is just like other women yet at the same time putting non-BW on a pedestal. First and foremost understand that I have the utmost respect for women period and being the son of a strong black loving mother, 7 gorgeous and articulate sisters, 2 lovely daughters, 3 grandaughters and a host of neices…….not to mention my gorgeous chocolately beautiful wife…..I have an appreciation for the black woman that exceeds all bounds. With that said my post didn’t in anyway to demean sistas, my point was simply that when looking at the larger picture and into other races you’ll find they are just as diverse as blacks physicaly, big *****es, thick hips and lips. Blacks have their share of flat *****es and no *****es as do others. Don’t get me wrong at one time their was a great dispairity between black and white *****es, but now and it may be due to races mixing or the fact that our diets have become so similar meaning what used to be thrown to us as scraps are now the main course on white folks tables too. How can anyone deny honestly that they haven’t noticed the thickining up thats going on. I know you’ve seen women of other races walking with their daughters and the damn kids got more butt and breast than their mommas.
