Random Ridiculousness

Posted by Bossip Staff

trashnikes

Nike is selling sneakers called “Nike Trash Talk” made from 100% trash for $100. The shoes are made up of scraps and manufacturing waste from the factory floor:

“ We were really looking for a ‘here and now’ solution to footwear waste, and creating a performance product using waste materials felt like a very innovative solution. Using Nike’s Considered design ethos we were able to create a shoe that stands up to the stringent on-court performance requirements but is also more environmentally friendly.”

Damn we’re all for the idea of eco-friendliness, but damn $100 for some trash? They could have at least lowered that price a bit.

  4. can’t pay 100.00 for trash shoes. that is just stupid.

  5. RIP Prop Joe - Omar OH Nooooo

They LOOK like trash, I’ll pass…

  6. Nita

what were they doing with all the shit left on the floor before trying to make 100 bucks off of it?

    Nike is shameful. Fuck them.

  7. anonomously yours

How can you charge 100 dollars for some shit that you would have thrown out anyway?!?! Thats just ridiculous

  8. The point of recycling your waste is to be eco-friendly, NOT to make a quick buck. Nikes have been way overpriced since the mid-90’s so while it angers me, it’s somewhat expected.

I don’t think folks should be paying 100.00 for non-trash shoes, either, though. Nike’s got a gimmick, but it’s not really green. They should have already been recycling all that stuff. Waste is a terrible thing. Recycling is the bomb. Nike’s bullshit is transparent.

  10. PRTTYBRWNGIRL

if it was the trash look they were goin for MISSION ACCOMPLISHED.

  11. ♥Kasey♥

$100 Dollars isn’t bad……It just helps the economy and avoids the recession a little more =) And I am all for that.

  12. Nike is a greedy a$$ trip. They are not going to stop until people boycott their greedy a$$es. How the hell do they put a $100 price tag on waste materials? I’m fed up with them. Really.

  13. ♥Kasey♥

    ****************************************************

Huh? Nikes aren’t made in America. What the hell are they doing to help our economy? Putting out shoes we can’t afford so that we can’t buy anything else doesn’t help the economy.

  14. embark

People put high prices on green, sustainable items all the time. The costs are incurred in the technology used (like the ability to construct a durable game-shoe with reused materials with out using any glue). Plus, 100 dollars is inexpensive in his day and age. Bossip would rather save a dollar then save the planet i guess….

  15. gimme a break

why knock nike for selling these enviormental friendly sneaker for $100 i have seen a regular nike sneakers that look worst than those selling for more than 100bucks …and guess what people buy them…dont start protesing now, that nike make a sneakers out of garbage……you should have been protesing from longtime ago…all nike sneakers are over priced …thats all

    personally i dont wear sneakers

    never own a nike sneakers

FYI there is a clothing line thats called garbage

their items are made of garbage and they stuff is pretty cute .

  16. RIP Omar

who ever designed the shoe needs to be fired

  17. Don King

If you don’t like Nike’s policies about child labor and all that….. don’t buy their shoes or picket their corporate offices. Real talk. They will lower their prices and fucked up labor practices if enough of their buyers(black) COMPLAIN ABOUT IT.

  18. 6 Figgas aka Knotx

I don’t invest in kicks that stink before I even take ‘em out da box. Nah.

  19. Don King

The new J’s is the shit though.

  20. RIP Omar

    @Bird

Actually it does help the economy even though they are not made in the US. The more we import from China or wherever the better, because we owen them so much money

  21. Don King

@ Knotz, make sense to me bro.

  22. igetIT

It doesnt matter how they make the shoes. As long as they’re fly. But the those are far from fly.

  23. igetIT

Nike should just keep it simple. All the hottest sneakers right now are retro anyway.

  24. da darkness

I guess that is a really optimistic way to look at it. You are obrviously more positive than I am. All I think about is how the US manufacturing industry has been virtually eliminated so that they can ship our jobs over to countries where they can underpay workers and even employ children and STILL charge us top dollar for their crap which we can’t afford because we can’t get a job because their are no decent paying jobs. Factory workers used to make decent money. Where are they working now that factories are being shut down all over the place.

Sorry but I stand by my original statement. Greedy a$$ Nike can kiss my a$$.

  31. RIP Omar

    @Bird

I agree with you on the jobs need to stay in the US. But cheap labor is the american way, how else are business owner going to make a profit. Why pay an American worker $15 an hour when you can pay a worker overseas a dollar an hour

  32. It'sREALLYme

    Hmmm… Veeeeery interesting….

  33. Teina

I love the idea, I love the shoes, but I will not pay $100 for them. However, I would buy them at a drastically reduced price on sale.

  34. Just_Wanna_Know

What an insult to the consumers.

  35. Grace

They know black folks will buy it so they don’t care. I am waiting for them to sell a shoe made out of 100% dog shit.

That’s the problem. The white man is still greedy as hell and now has slaves in other countries rather than here. How much profit do those greedy bastards need? Cooincidently I watched a special on Nike on either CNN or MSNBC this weekend and they mentioned how Nike pays $20 for each pair of shoes and the workers are treated horribly. Modern day slave masters. And black folks are their biggest supporters.

B/c they know the NIGGERS will by it!!!!!

  42. Test

  43. kwa

im sure black people will get killed for these shoes, too.

  44. keltharocka

Please don’t spend your money on these, if you want eco-friendly shoes, there are lots of companies that have been making recycled shoes from the start.

  45. Dolla Bill

    LOL….You gotta love capitalism.

  46. I'd wear them

I’d wear them, they look better than them obama kicks! Why y’all complaining anyways? How many of you know what your garments and accessories have really been through? Love it man, I’d do the same shit if it where me!

  47. Bohwe

Well to the many people who are interested in the lastest poll results, I will try not to be bias but Obama is off the hook right now.

As of right now, and not counting the elections today, the results are

    Current Delegate Race

    Democratic Race

    Clinton-1224

    *Obama-1298

    * 2025 is needed to win the Democratic nomination.

  48. Bohwe

    Source: CBSnews.com

And NYPost is asking why certain districts in NY wasn’t counted, and specifically Harlem. It appears as if Obama didn’t get no votes at all, well according to what M.Basiden said on the radio, and people are looking in to that.

Bohwe wrote, “Well to the many people who are interested in the lastest poll results, I will try not to be bias but Obama is off the hook right now.”

Yes, he is. That’s why the Clintons and McCains are working overtime with the fake plagiarism stance and now the ‘Michelle Obama hates America’ fake stance. (more on that later)

And the thing about all those machines which didn’t record any votes for Obama is real. Thank you for reposting. Anybody in New York know what’s currently going down in that regard, cuz that’s serious business. What’s less reported is that there are certain machines where not one vote for Hillary was reported, either ;) But the effect on Obama is apparently ‘worse’.

(Meanwhile, in New Mexico, there were no safeguards in place whatsoever for the way ballots were counted when it came to people putting their names on a piece of a paper with their choice. Who’s to say how many of those counted and weren’t counted? and why? It’s worse than the Florida chad shit, out here.)

Also meanwhile, a couple days ago I heard that the California recounts have progressed to the point where Obama actually received ANOTHER delegate (which means Hillary lost one?) — and shit is still going down with what happened in LA county with the independent ballots where very few people were instructed on how to properly fill the thing out. But the Los Angelenos and Californias here should have more information on that, right?

  51. Up the Block

WOW…So these are the new Steve Nash shoes I have been reading about.

$100 for shoes made from recycled “trash”. Say it aloud to yourself folks just so you can hear how ridiculous that sounds!!

  52. Nita

As for the more on that later:

People are trying to destroy Obama, now, through his wife and the stereotype of the Angry Black Woman.

All because Michelle said she’d never been prouder of her husband.

Be on the lookout for people trying to *negatively* compare Michelle to the adulterous, beer heiress with the botox who never held a real job and went to Bangladesh to pick up a daughter like picking up an impulse item at the grocery store known as Cindy McCain. You know the chick: John ‘Keating Five’ McCain left his wife with whom he’d had children for this chick, an heiress 13 year his junior, back in the 70s. And you know what that heiress’ greatest claim to fame is?

She FORGED HER DOCTORS NAMES ON PRESCRIPTIONS (shades of Noelle Bush, but Noelle is half Mexican poor thang) STEALING FROM HER WORK. She convinced some dude to cover up for her. She got found out anyway. The dude was fired. She went to court but they didn’t punish her because she’s rich…. no, officially they didn’t punish her for forgery and theft and embezzlement because she was a ‘first time offender’.

I was over at a conservative site where a dude named Taxcuts said:

“I do think that this is much ado about nothing as bibchr said and as you attacked him for. And no I wasn’t taking a swipe at Cindy McCain. I do however find it ironic that McCain is not pushing to let non-violent drug offenders out of prison, because that’s basically what his wife was.”

    Oh my.

Cindy McCain’s airheaded response to Michelle Obama’s ‘I’ve never been more proud of my country’ comment, when speaking about how far her husband has come and the mood of America right now when it comes to supporting her husband:

“I “am proud of my country. I don’t know about you, if you heard those words earlier — I am very proud of my country.””

Michelle’s comment came from a place of depth. Cindy’s comment came from the botox fumes. The number of folks who think Michelle was rude with her comment — on the liberal side — is appalling to me, and I don’t know what that means for Obama. There continue to be forces of evil afoot. Be on the lookout and be vigilant.

I have faith that the Obamas will know how to deal with this. But there are too many people who don’t want to.

  53. Nita

@ Up the Block wrote, “WOW…So these are the new Steve Nash shoes I have been reading about. $100 for shoes made from recycled “trash”. Say it aloud to yourself folks just so you can hear how ridiculous that sounds!!”

For me, it’s not the fact that it’s trash, it’s the fact that there’s such a high price on both it and the products from which such ‘trash’ was salvaged, for me.

No one should spend $600 on a pair of distressed blue jeans, either. And yet, people do. They want that label, nevermind that it was made in the same plant by the same people, on the same tables making the exact same jean with a lower brand name.

I’m all for recycling. The world is not in a position to waste anything. Recycled is cool. Fake ‘Live Green’ is not.

You know how notebook paper will say that it’s post-consumer instead of pre-consumer? Well, were those shoes made of materials which would be recycled anyway? or has Nike been wasteful all this time? How many of their shoes have pre-consumer material? Why aren’t all of their shoes made of it? Why wasn’t this done before? Technology? or has it?

  54. anchored

@Bohwe is this Dan. yeah that’s pretty sad how the people so called democrats are participating in the same practices as the c.i.a. during the past to presidential elections. i.e. “stealing votes” matt drudge been reported how there was a controversy over the votes in CT, thus Obama was the lead but Hil-liar somehow trailing came around by the end to grab the delegate votes by an impressive margin. the polls have been fixed, don’t forget these electronic machine are big business. NY still has manual voting booths but if votes are hidden, how will they be counted? Jim Crow existing in 2008?

  55. Kicks

I haven’t worn Nike in a minute but I’d buy these. I think it’s a great idea. It recycles waste it keeps them from increasing waste by making sneakers from new raw materials. More companies are going to be doing things like this in the future, bet on it.

  56. anchored

lol oh my, holy shit the “white trashes,” yep that concludes it we’re in a recession in the US daaaamn

  57. That is why I have always kept a fresh pair of Reebok Classics. Nike is overpriced and always trying to pull a fast one on shoppers

  58. Bohwe

These votes that are missing will be counted and he will get his just dues. Just wait and see. The Democratic Party knows that Obama is keeping the Black vote, which hasn’t been this ethusiastic for a canidate in how long? He’s pulling the young vote, and the average age of Americans is 35. He’s bringing Republicans and Indpendents over to the party. Why would they risk this new surge in favor of Clinton who the populous is not voting for.

Obama is the MAN- 9 wins so far. HA. I love my black folks whenever we do something positive, we always do it big. Our ancestors are smiling right now, saying, all this was worth it. Obama will defintely go down in history.

What the heck are you talking about? Of course the profits come to America to line the pockets of greedy execs. I’m talking about the dang jobs. I don’t give a damn about one person getting rich. I’m worried about the thousands of Americans who can’t find a decent paying job.

  60. 1

They look fresh to me I will buy a pair

  61. Lady Architect

I personally don’t wear sneakers like that cause I’m a shoe person but I do agree that if you are gonna support an eco-friendly design, support someone that has been doing it and just not on the market cause of a name. Also people are complaining about 100dollars when people will pay 250dollars for some Jordans cause of his name…point is 100dollars is nothin compared to the amount of money we will start kicking out to fix all of our environmental problems.

  62. Koi Norelle

For me to spend $100 on a pair of sneakers- the sneakers are going to have to make love to me.

  63. ♥Kasey♥

    @Bird

You said that They arent made here in America and the profits dont come here to America. MAKE UP YOUR DAMN MIND. You obviously have no idea what your talking about. So sit the fuck down. And FYI its called Education. If you have it then it shouldnt be hard to find a decent paying job. Sorry, but a GED isnt going to get you far in life. Its nobody else’s fault if someone cant find a job. If someone really wanted a job, they could get one. Its called effort and determination.

  64. Moreaces

I think they look hot, I like the color scheme, but I would never pay 100 bucks for them. Nike came keep them kicks if you ask me.
