I am a lil surprised at the number of people that seem to disapprove of the relationship with my boyfriend. I find this reality to be kind of hard to accept. There are times when I notice people giving us long hard stares and those stares are usually from my own people! Honestly, I wish everyone could benefit from the beauty that can come from experiences that happen outside of your own comfort zone. Give it a shot and you can learn so much from a person you never thought you’d talk to or have something in common with. Sometimes society makes it hard for us to be comfortable enough in our own skin to embrace others who are different.

I’m black: African American female, my bf is part Cuban & Puerto Rican. Alot of ppl keep saying that we don’t count as an interracial couple. In my book we do bcuz for 1.) He doesn’t look like a blk man 2.) His culture is totally different then mine & 3.) He is still considered white. If he were to apply for a job he would check White: hispanic/latino. I come from a city where their isn’t any Latino’s so to me it’s definitely new to me. Everybody wasn’t born & raised in Urban areas such as New York, Cali, Philly, Chicago where alot of different Ethnic groups are. I’m from North Florida where it’s only blacks, whites & the asian ppl who own the hair stores & restaurants. But I have started noticing more Latino’s moving here. Thats a good thing for me bcuz I have a thing for Latin men.
