J-Hud’s on the cover of Jet, looking as elegant as always. In the issue she discusses her comeback and ways of coping with her tragedy:
Jennifer Hudson is slowly but surely returning to the spotlight, months after a family tragedy affected her life forever, when her mother, brother and nephew were slain in October. The star sang the national anthem at this year’s Super Bowl and appeared put together and glamorous at the Grammy Awards, where she won the top honor for Best R&B album. With so many things lining up for the singer, including a tour this spring, she says she keeps it all together very simply. “Praying every morning and thanking God for every single blessing keeps me grounded and motivated to be the very best that I can be in everything that I do,” she tells Jet magazine in their April issue, on stands March 16.

You can see it in her skin. Nothing is airbrushed, or photoshopped. At least in my opinion. I love the picture. She looks good.
i love j-hud n think she is very talented but when it comes to these pictures on magazines i neva believe that they r real n they hv not bn twicked in some way. Hollywood is a shady buzi.

I want to hear about the pregnant rumours, is she or isn’t she. But girl looks good and I am proud of her. Alot of pl walk around feeling sorry for themselves but she does not. She is my heroe.
Not to be too amoral, but does anyone else here think these homicides have been great for her career? Not that she’s exploiting them, but they give her “brand” an extra dimension: pathos. She’s now the troubled angel (Mary J. Blige is the Evita of Brooklyn; Beyonce is the Barbie of black America, etc.), touched by tragedy and gamely carrying on for her fans and for her soul. Americans are a maudlin bunch, at bottom, and nothing is quite so satisfying to the American public as a successful entertainer with a little tragedy in her backstory. Even if the tragedy betrays her lower-caste origins (a fair number of entertainers come from the lower levels).
It will be interesting to see how shrewdly her management walks her through this narrative, toward a climax of success in the face of death, and then a smooth move away from it just before people get tired of hearing the story.

Interesting observation. She apparently lived what others front. But I think she has to go on, she needs to make a living, there are contracts to fulfill, etc. Notice how she hasn’t commented on the CrisRiRi thing, because at first the murders were supposedly done by her “abusive” brother-in-law, but then it came out that drugs were at the root. So, it could be a little bit of both — tragic heroine and a need to make a living.

Scooby and the followers seem to think that Jennifer Hudson is getting attention because of the tragedy close to her. She isn’t just an average, ok singer! This woman can sing her ***** off and has worked to earn the awards that she so deserved. Her cd is for grown ups who want to hear some real music. We’ve lost that with all the R&B mixed in with hip hop and ebonics mixed in with proper grammar. Her Star was shining bright when the tragedies happened and will continue to shine.
