Washington State Prosecutor Busted Sexting Prisoner

A Washington state criminal prosecutor is under investigation after allegedly helping a wanted criminal elude police in March.

Via NY Daily News reports:

Marriya Wright, 34, had a relationship of sorts with Matthew Baumrucker, 31, a six-time convicted felon with the word “criminal” tattooed across his head, according to authorities.

A search of Baumrucker’s phone revealed the pair exchanged nearly 1,300 text messages and that he had a picture of the Spokane County deputy prosecutor in a bikini, reported KXLY.

Police are looking into whether she could be charged with rendering criminal assistance.

Baumrucker was wanted on drug charges at the time and he was under investigation for a possible assault in March.

The wanted felon assured a witness that a prosecutor named Marriya would be able to get him off the hook if police ever caught him, authorities said.

That witness also claimed to see Baumrucker get into a red SUV with Wright at a gas station a little more than a week before he was taken into custody in March, the Spokesman-Review reported.

Following his arrest, authorities grew suspicious of Wright because of how often she visited Baumrucker. She reportedly went to him 10 times in a single month.

Wright has been on paid administrative leave since April 21.
