We thought Yaya had met her match in equally shea buttery filmmaker Joshua Bee Alafia, but a rep for the actress has recently confirmed the couple has split.

According to US Weekly reports:

Actress Yaya DaCosta is back on the market. The America’s Next Top Model alum and Big Words star, 32, has parted ways with her husband Joshua Bee Alafia, her rep confirms exclusively to Us Weekly.

DaCosta, who next stars as Whitney Houston in the upcoming Lifetime biopic Whitney, married filmmaker Alafia in June 2012. No reason has been given for the split after two years of marriage.

A runner-up on Cycle 3 of ANTM, DaCosta gave birth to the couple’s son Sankara in September 2013. After competing on the Tyra Banks-led show, she went on to appear in episodes of “All My Children” and “Ugly Betty,” and star in 2013’s Lee Daniels’ The Butler.

Alafia and DaCosta, who exchanged vows in an outdoor wedding in Pennsylvania, have yet to comment on their breakup.

DaCosta will appear in the Angela Bassett-directed Whitney on Lifetime on Jan. 17, 2015 at 8/7c.

Yaya’s star is definitely rising so we doubt she’ll be single for long. We hope the couple have an amicable split for the sake of their son Sankara.
