Breaking Tradition: 11 Albums That Didn’t Drop on Tuesday

Pretty soon albums will no longer be released on Tuesday. The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry is implementing the new rule that Friday will be the official release date for new albums. Some of our favorite Hip-Hop & R&B stars have already broken the tradition. Hit the flip to see which ones.

Beyoncé Beyonce stunted on the universe when she dropped her self-titled album Thursday December 12, 2013 right before midnight while everyone was sleeping with no promotion out. The Queen Bey still shattered records. Who’s BAD?

Kendrick Lamar To Pimp A Butterfly Although K. Dot and crew weren’t too happy about his label leaking the album early, he did garner a lot of support and positive feedback. Lamar’s project dropped Sunday March 15, 2015, but technically yes the release date is still March 23.

D’Angeo And The Vanguard- Black Messiah D’Angelo made R&B fans happy by ending his 14-year hiatus. He released the album at midnight on a Monday, December 15, 2014. He debuted at No. 5. Not bad for being gone over a decade.

Fabolous The Young OG Project Fab chose to drop this project on Christmas which happened to fall on Thursday last year. He debuted at No. 12 so he didn’t make too bad of a choice.

Lil’ Wayne Tha Carter IV Weezy dropped his ninth album on Monday, Aug. 29, 2011, right after his performance at the MTV Video Music Awards that Sunday. Tha Carter IV pulled in over 964,000 sales during its first week.
