HIV Rates Run Rampant In India…But You’ll Never Guess Why
Average Condoms “Too Big” For Men In India
India has one of the highest rates of HIV in the world, so one would think the population would be diligent about safe sex. However, it seems that condom usage is part of the problem, As it turns out, the average Indian man’s penis is just too small for international-standard condoms…so the disease keeps spreading like wildfire. Via Mirror:
Condoms made to international sizes are too big for a majority of Indian men, a survey has found.
A two-year study by the Indian Council of Medical Research found that more than half of the Indian men measured had penises that were shorter than international standards for condoms.
Now there are calls for condoms of mixed sizes to be made more readily available in a country which already has the highest number of HIV infections of any nation.
Over 1,200 volunteers from the length and breadth of the country had their penises measured precisely, down to the last millimetre, according to a report on the BBC news website.
The scientists concluded that about 60% of Indian men have penises which are between three and five centimetres shorter than international standards used in condom manufacture.
Doctor Chander Puri, a specialist in reproductive health at the Indian Council of Medical Research, told the BBC there was an obvious need in India for custom-made condoms, as most of those currently on sale are too large.
Damn…they need custom mini-condoms to strap-up properly. Hopefully the latex corporations can get on that ASAP!
