10 Celebrities Who Have Been Delivert!
You might be surprised to know some of your favorite entertainers have become highly religious over the years. Sometimes you just need some TLC from the man upstairs. Flip on over to see which celebs gave their lives to religion.
Mos Def
Most Def, now going by Yasiin Bey, has never hidden his Muslim upbringing. However it seems that over the year he’s drifted out of the spotlight and into spirtuality. Recently, he changed his Instagram name and officially solidified his status as a Muslim by performing a special ritual called Shahada.
Ma$e
The on-again, off-again rapper turned pastor left his Atlanta church last year after a very public divorce from his wife. Since then, he has immersed himself fully in his music and claims to be working on a new rap album – which we have yet to see anything from. The rapper has made it very clear that while he does want to mix his business and religious views, he still stands firmly in his walk with Christianity.
Michelle Williams
Before Beyonce decided to kick Destiny’s Child to the curb, she let her pals know that her time with the group was coming to an end. After the group released their final project, Michelle announced she’d be shifting gears into the Gospel territory. Shortly after Michelle got delivert to gospel, she admitted to being embarrassed about singing explicit lyrics during her time with Destiny’s Child. Since then, she’s had a few successful successful Gospel singles and even a reality show.
Tom Cruise
While Cruise might not be the only celeb member of Scientology, he is definitely the most outspoken member of the organization. Over the years, a number of “close” sources have implied he has a cult-like obsession with the religion. Not to mention he’s had a couple of bizarre interviews discussing his beliefs. Nothing wrong with being passionate right?
To each his own…
Monica Brown
It’s no secret Monica was hit pretty hard by the tragic death of boyfriend Jarvis Weems. After a few years of grieving Monica slowly but surely made her way back into the spotlight. She came back more beautiful, more mature and made her newfound relationship with God very clear. It’s really good to see her back on her feet!
Shyne
Remember the former rapper and friend to Diddy who served 10 years in prison after the shooting outside of a NYC nightclub? Well, he found the light during his time behind bars. After he got out, the converted Jewish rapper even was so deep in his religious journey, he actually traveled to Jerusalem to study deeper at the Aish Hatorah Yeshiva.

Prince
Prince was brought up as a Seventh-day Adventist, however in 2001 he converted to Jehovah’s Witness and has since been very open about finding the balance between his music and his faith. He’s best known for his soulful and provocative lyrics, however since his deliverance we rarely get more than instrumentals from the star.
Tyler Perry
The actor, filmmaker, playwright and author wasn’t always an open book about his religious beliefs. But after the super success he’s had in film, Perry can afford to express his Christian views on the big screen. Not only does he include religious themes in all of his films, he even donated a $1 million to a developing youth center run by Bishop T.D. Jakes (an influential Christian leader).
Madonna
Once upon a time, Madonna was actually a Catholic pop star. Seems unlikely right? Yeah, she thought so too. A few years into her career Madonna openly converted to Kabbalah Judaism. Not only has she been vocal about her new religion but she has been known to donate millions of dollars to the Kabbalah Institute, which provides deeper learning for its members.
Sherri Shepherd
The former Comedian and The View co–host has been no stranger to the struggle life. In interviews, Sherri has been open about her difficult upbringing, promiscuous past and numerous run-ins with domestic violence. She’s explained that toward the end of her career in comedy, she’d reignited her relationship with God and chosen to drop her vulgar jokes for something greater. Sherri is currently a practicing Jehovah’s Witness.
