Denzel recently wrapped production on the new film “The Taking of Pelham 123” where he worked with co-star John Travolta. It was quite obvious during filming how deeply disturbed and emotionally distraught Travolta still was about his only son’s death.

Denzel Washington spoke about his grieving “The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3” co-star John Travolta at press conference for the new flick. Washington told reporters on Friday, Travolta continues to cope with the death of his son, Jett. Denzel said, “Needless to say, he’s struggling.”

Washington said he spoke with Travolta on the phone two weeks ago and he “listened to him for about two or three hours.”

Travolta’s healing process is “going to take time,” Washington says. “What can you say, really? Just be there as a friend, because he’s such a sweet, sweet person. Our prayers are with he and his wife.”

In January, Jett Travolta, 16, died unexpectedly while the family was vacationing in the Bahamas.

We can’t imagine the grief Travolta and his family must be dealing with.
