Kyle Norman Gets Slap On The Wrist In Domestic Violence Case
A member of 90s R&B group Jagged Edge agreed to a plea deal that would keep him out of jail for attacking his now wife earlier this year, BOSSIP has learned.
Cops cuffed Kyle Norman back in January for pummeling his bride to be, holding her against her will and shoving her engagement ring down her throat. But under a plea deal, Norman will only serve a long stretch of community service and probation after admitting he attacked his lover.
Norman initally faced major prison time after he was charged with six felonies, including false imprisonment, aggravated assault and making terroristic threats as well as misdemeanor battery, and hindering a person calling 911.
But a judge in Fulton County Superior Court sentenced Norman to 15 years of probation and community service for the aggravated assault charges and 10 years for false imprisonment. He got five years of probation and community service a piece for the making terroristic threats and second-degree criminal damage to property.
And Norman got time served for his misdemeanor battery charges.
It was unclear Thursday whether the sentences would run concurrently.
“I feel as though the outcome was fair according to what we discussed with respects to Mr. Norman and everyone involved,” his lawyer, Durante Partridge, told BOSSIP. “I think the court in this situation, did the right thing.”
Norman and his victim, later identified as Marrika Maria, apparently have put the assault behind them, marrying six months ago in a low-key ceremony, according to Rolling Out Magazine.
Norman reportedly told guests at the wedding that he was a changed man and had stopped drinking and taking drugs, but Partridge, his attorney, wouldn’t comment on whether he’d gone to rehab.
“Kyle is okay,” the lawyer said. “He’s taking steps necessary to do what he needs to do for himself.”
