Man And Two Girlfriends Plot To Kill 15-Year-Old Girl He Molested
A Miami man accused of having sex with a 15-year-old girl wanted to ensure she couldn’t testify against him so enlisted the help of his two girlfriends and a prison buddy according to Sun Sentinel reports:
It was an audacious and twisted show of loyalty told in court documents, and it almost worked.
The victim, now 21, was arriving to work in Miami Lakes on Sept. 1 when a gunman ambushed her, firing 10 bullets.
“By the grace of God she lived,” said Broward Sheriff’s Detective Justin Augustus. “She’s not backing down. She’s definitely the bravest witness I’ve seen by far.”
Samuel Preval, 36, the man at the center of what investigators are calling a murder conspiracy, has been behind bars for 20 months and is not charged in the shooting, but his attorney expects he will be.
An arrest warrant says Preval conspired with his girlfriends and another man — Preval’s former jailmate — in the attempted murder.
It was Preval’s latest attempt to silence the young woman he was accused of molesting when she was a teen, a prosecutor says.
Five years ago in that case, Preval was charged with five counts of lewd and lascivious battery and one count of lewd or lascivious molestation. The girl, now a young woman, is identified as T.R. in court documents.
In the months before Preval’s trial, orginally slated for May 2014, he tried to hire someone to kill the young woman, an affidavit said. That brought charges of victim tampering and criminal solicitation to commit first-degree premeditated murder, and Preval has been in jail ever since, awaiting trial.
In April 2015 and again in July, two unidentified women approached Preval’s accuser and made an offer: she would be compensated if she dropped her accusations against Preval.
