Cynthia Bailey Tells BOSSIP Her Girls Have Her Back; Hasn’t Ruled Out Reconciliation
“Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Cynthia Bailey said her cast mates have rallied around her as she gets a handle on her shock split from Peter Thomas.
Bailey announced earlier this week that she separated from Thomas after nearly six years of marriage. The former couple had their shares of ups and downs – all documented on her reality show – like arguments about money and accusations of infidelity.
The model and entrepreneur said she was doing as “fine as can be expected,” and confirmed that Thomas now lives in Charlotte full time while she lives in Atlanta.
“I’m pretty much focusing on taking time for myself,” she said. “The space has been great to figure out how to move forward. We’re not together. And we’ll see what happens.”
Helping her fill that time are her co-stars – Nene Leakes, Kenya Moore, Sheree Whitfield and Kandi Burress-Tucker – who Bailey said have been her shoulder to cry on while she figures out her next move. Leakes met up with her last month when they were both in LA for work – she was promoting her new handbag line, Cargo, and Leakes was filming “Fashion Police” – where they attended Johnny Gill’s birthday party.
“She’s been very supportive throughout everything I’m going through,” Bailey told us. “She’s been through a divorce, and she’s been a great friend.”
Bailey said she and Leakes like to go out, have a glass of vino and talk things through.
“We drink plenty of wine throughout this,” Bailey said. “Cocktails together, dinner together.”
And Moore, Burress-Tucker and Whitfield have been calling and texting their love and support too, she said.
“I’m also very close to Kenya as well,” Bailey said. “She checks in on me. Kandi has reached out to me as well. And Sheree reached out to me.”
Bailey revealed how she rekindled her relationship with her one time frenemy Leakes after not speaking for years. She said after Leakes’ apparent meltdown at a recent “Real Housewives” reunion show, she reached out to her to see if she was okay. Leakes may have seen the gesture as an olive branch, because the pair slowly began communicating again, eventually meeting up for drinks, she said.
It was “a very similar situation with my husband,” she said. “The time apart helped us look at our friendship, and eventually, in time, we came back together.”
“We found our way back,” she added about her relationship with Leakes. “I don’t know what’s going to happen with Peter, but I think it’s good to have time apart.”
Thomas hasn’t commented on the split, but Bailey told BOSSIP that although they were no longer together, nothing was set in stone.
“I think the lesson is that nothing is perfect,” she said. “When you go through things, if it means anything to you, then there’s always a way to make it right.”
