Nicki Minaj Talks Kim Kardashian Nudes, Jay Z’s Influence And Beyoncé Collaborations For Marie Claire Covers Story
We Broke It Here First! Nicki Minaj is on Marie Claire’s November cover. The female emcee is the face of the magazine’s Power Issue… Inside she opens up on a plethora of topics, including violent deaths in the U.S., her goals, learning from Jay Z, working with Beyoncé and most interesting to us — the double standard when it comes to race and nudity, specifically pointing out the difference in reaction she and Kim Kardashian received to similar poses.
Check out excerpts and photos from the Marie Claire issue below and on the flip!
On the double standard that exists for women of color in the media:
“When Kim Kardashian’s naked picture came out, [Sharon Osbourne] praised it, and my fans attacked her for being such a hypocrite. So it wasn’t trashy and raunchy when a white woman did it, but it was when a black woman did it? It’s quite pathetic and sad, but that is my reality, and I’ve gotten accustomed to just shutting it down.”
Do you agree with Nicki’s comments? We feel like Kim K gets flak too but Nicki may be right about being held to a different standard.
